Does Your Body Ache From the Cold Weather?

Just like during the rest of the year, taking care of your body is important.  But it is during the cold winter months that our pain can take a turn for the worse.  If you ever feel stiff during the chilly weather, it is caused by the synovial fluid present in our joints having limited movement due to the low temperature.  Your muscles are also affected because they are unable to stretch to their ideal capacity.

Some of us fall into the "hibernation" stage that comes with the dropping temperature.  The lack of movement and the inactivity can lead to increased weight and injuries.  This increased weight can add unneeded stress to our joints and spine.  Hitting the gym or activities outside are now limited due to winter weather keeping us indoors.  Chiropractic care can help reduce stiffness and keep you limber until warmth returns.

Working on your spine does more than just eliminate stiffness.  It is a part of the central nervous system as well.  This is responsible for communicating with the other systems in the body, most notably the immune system.  Taking care of your spine with a chiropractor sets off a chain of events.  While making the spine healthy, you are boosting the central nervous system, which then strengthens the immune system.  Fighting off the common cold is a key to maintaining wellness.
